Meet at the Southwick Beach Car Park at 10am  (BN41 1WD) https://maps.app.goo.gl/9R7kv87tSvFez7vE6 which is £2.80 for 4 hours (£5 for a day). (NB Its quite a long way round to drive to the car park as you need to head to the end of the docks on the A259 and turn sharp right just before the Hove lagoon then come back along Basin Road South, the dock road, on the sea side of the docks.)

The plan is to walk down the beach past the wind turbines to the breakwater (which is the end of the Monarchs Way long distance footpath) before retracing our footsteps and then using the footpath to cross over the lock gates to the "Port Kitchen" https://portkitchen.co.uk/ for a coffee/refreshment stop.

Then we will carry on along the harbours anchor points trail which runs along the canal bank past the marina and the bee and butterfly bank (we didn't see any on our recee!!) and various wharfs and industrial buildings.  When we have had enough we will head up one of the set of steps and walk back along the A259 for an elevated perspective.  The total distance is 3-4 miles but as its effectively 2 out and back walks you could reduce the distance or if you want extend the walk further towards Hove.

Some areas of the docks have wire mesh fence but once we head past the Port Kitchen there are areas with open views.  A long lens is suggested if you want to photograph the industrial landscape across the docks.

High Tide is at 2pm.
