Sound tests the membership

Meeting Report

The one we were all waiting for?... Our opportunity to display our ingenuity in representing sound in a picture. Amazingly only half the members attempted it and some of the entries did not meet the criteria set by the Judge, Eric Burchell. Eric did an excellent job in describing what we were looking for in these special subject competitions. In this case you needed to hear the sound coming from the picture, not imagine it. This was indeed very challenging but wonderfully achieved by our top scorers.

There were ten “18s“ notably two each from Terry Eldridge and Alex Swyer, very well done to both of you. The most imaginative, in my humble opinion, were the two “19s” by Daisy Kane with her “Member of the Band” and John Gauvin’s “Popping the Cork”, their Photoshop skills really bringing the pictures alive.

We had three “20s” Jane Coward with “Sharing a sound”, Derek Grieve with “Good Morning” and coming in with Best Picture was Daisy again with “It’s me Grandma” a portrait of young girl on a mobile phone talking to her Grandma, a well seen hoilday photograph.

Well done to all those took part. Back to normal for the next print competition on the 17th of February when we are hoping to have a record number of entries. Any new members that want help or advice please contact one of the committee.
