A Daisy Double

Meeting Report

Judge Don Mitchell ARPS

Don judged this competition with his normal good humour, announcing at the start that he didn't like Portrait, Landscape, Natural History or for that matter any other genre of photography except steam locomotives. Don revealed he has been judging for over 40 years and is currently the President of Bognor Regis Camera Club. The confidence of Don to mark images as seen and not 'Hold Back' any is his testament to those 40 years of judging. With both the PI & Print Best of the Year competitions to be judged we had a lot to get through. It didn't help that the software crashed on the second image marked and it took several minutes to recover the situation. As it happened, judging ended ahead of schedule confirming that experienced judges are excellent time keepers as well.

20s

Daisy Kane's 'New Forest foals at play' again was awarded Best of the Evening as it did in the 4th PI competition.

Other 20s went to Anne Nagle for 'Parental Duties', Peter Michell for 'Maria', Derek Grieve for 'Last birds in from the Wash' and Charmaine Hayes for 'Land Speed Record'

19s

Five images score 19 points. Anne Nagle with 'A Greater Spotted Woodpecker', Peter Michell with 'Emma', Jane Coward with 'Raptor', Di Walker with 'Delicate flower' and Paul Setford with 'Summer glory'.

18s

Five images scored 18. Derek Grieve with 'Golden Eagle with Hare kill', Martin Tomes with 'The train arriving...' and 'The Red Arrows', Clive Trusler with 'Bee-po' and finally my 'Small Island'.

Congratulations to Daisy who topped both the PI and Print Best of the Year competitions, unfortunately she was not there to receive the accolades. In her absence, Jane was hastily making notes to be relayed later.
