End of the year

AGM Presentation - Janet and Dean

As is traditional the final meeting of the year was the Annual General Meeting. After the formalities of apologies and previous year minutes the chairman Janet delivered her report on an eventful year with its usual mixture of meetings, competitions, photoshoots and hints and tips. In external competitions we held our own and had particular success in the SCPF PDI championships where we came sixth out of thirty eight clubs. Thanks were given to retiring members of committee Sarah Beard, Kevin Harwood, Andy Jones and Sue Frossard as well as to others who had contributed to the club in other ways.

Sarah presented the accounts and treasurer's report which displayed an adequate surplus and reserves and these were approved along with a proposal to increase subscriptions to £60. The competition secretaries reported on less than ideal numbers of print participants and a better number of PDI contributors.

Elections to committee for the new season led to the appointment of:

Vacancies for Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Publicity were not filled although after the meeting Brenda Bull and Chris West came forward for Treasurer and Publicity respectively.

Dean outlined the new season's programme and the Summer party date was fixed for 16 July although details of the latter remain to be worked out.

In a debate on the competitions' scoring system it was agreed that the experiment introduced after the previous AGM would continue with the addition of a commended category. A working group chaired by Sue Frossard was appointed to consider the scoring arrangements for the 2024-25 season to be debated at the 2024 AGM. Another debate agreed that images taken by a camera carrying drone would be valid entries in competitions.
