Evening organised by the Chairman!?

Meeting Report

Problem?? No Chairman to organise the evening! Reason? The Chairman is having a 'Knees up' in Newmarket at her firm's annual Christmas Bash.

Solution?? Vice Chairman steps in in a womanly way and organises a really good evening's fun.

Anne together with Liz Barber and Audrey club together and select two teams for the 'Mix and Match' competition from our total ranks, appoint a Judge - Clive Trussler (at the golf club pronounced TRUEs LER) to judge (he is a very good choice for the role as he has by necessity had to develop a very thick skin over the years).

We kick off straight away, with quite a good number of members attending in view of the threatened weather conditions, with John Gauvin doing the projecting in his usual expert way.

The 'A' team is led by Paul 'Antarctic' Hayward and 'B' team by Daisy 'top photographer' Kane. Clive takes a great deal of heckling and rude comments but survives anyway and we have a good laugh and a lot of fun.

We pause at half time for some lovely Mulled Wine provided by Vice and some delicious Mince Pies made by Audrey. Whilst these are being consumed, we try a fiendish competition devised and executed by Liz who has photographed some 14 objects in very difficult to identify ways. New man Alex Swyer is top dog at this and receives a small prize as does Audrey for producing a splendid pair of dancing pumps decorated by photographs, another competition dreampt up by Anne but not really understood or attempted by many (two is not many!).

After the break we have the last few rounds of the MM when the matches get nearly impossible, and the judge has a real bias towards his fellow golfer Paul, which is suprising really as they have real issues over their handicaps.

So, our Chairman missed a really fun filled evening whilst she was putting a good headache in place for herself, and it remains only for me to wish all our members a Very Happy Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
