Based on the latest weather forecast this Photo Walk will proceed it will be quite windy but hopefully dry.

Meet by the beach café at West Wittering at 11.30.  The idea will be to follow the tide out looking for interesting textures, reflections in the pools with hopefully reasonably pristine sand.  It should be a good opportunity to play with long exposures and neutral density filters.

Perhaps break for a coffee in the café and then walk towards East Head and possibly staying to watch the sun set over the Isle of Wight.

West Wittering is about 50 minutes/25 miles from Storrington so people might want to car share.

Parking at West Wittering at this time of the year during the week is £2.40 for the day which covers you from 07:00 – 18:00 provided you pre-book before you set out.  If you pay on the day its £3.15. Its a rather antiquated booking system just make sure you select the right day and put the end time in as 18:00.

Beach Café
open: 9.00 – 16:00 (last orders for food 15.30)
You might want to check the menu if you are thinking of eating there:

As a guide soup of the day is £6.50 and Cod and Chips is £15.55 (I’ll pack a flask of soup)

Tides/Sunset:
High Tide:         9:58 & 22:22
Low Tide:          15:27
Sunset:              15:32

Obviously, dress appropriately I would suggest waterproof footwear and a torch to navigate back to your car (especially if you are staying after Sunset) as the carpark is very uneven, likely to be dark and have puddles.

A short article which includes West Wittering on what to expect photographically here:

Its not the best location for waves so if that looks likely to be stormy I will possibly reschedule for 9am at Shoreham Beach (not as spectacular as Newhaven but still usually good for waves).

To get an idea of numbers please email me if you are thinking of coming - no need to email if you can’t make it (sorry to those who work or study on a Monday).
