Newsletter May 2010

General Notes from the Chairman

It only gets better – after the last newsletter congratulating Ruth on getting top spot in the second print competition along comes new member Charmaine Hayes – she enters two projected images in the 3rd competition and gets 20 and 19 – very well done.

With new members doing so well it was also heartening to see Paul Setford get his first 20 in the third print competition. Meanwhile yours truly is languishing compared to last year – though the totally unexpected success in the Southern Fed projected image competition was very pleasing. (Katie – top PI).

Roy Powell will be stepping down from his position as publicity officer. Roy has done a sterling job for which we are very grateful – many thanks Roy.  If you feel this is something you could take on next year please speak to a committee member (Ed, role now filled by returning member Suzanne Charles). The role involves organising any exhibitions and advising local press of events and anything else you can think of to promote the club.

The existing committee stands down at the AGM in May – hopefully most if not all will be available for re-election. If you want to make a nomination for any post please be reminded that you must seek that person's agreement to be nominated and the nomination is to be made  in good time.

My own role as Chairman ends at the AGM and the club rules state that a new chairperson must be elected as the role is limited to 2 years. Di Walker-Cleveland (currently Vice Chairman) has agreed to stand. In the event of any other nominations there will be a vote at the AGM, otherwise Di will take up the role after the AGM.

All the best

Peter
