We had a good season

Event
Meeting Report

Anne Nagle started the evening with her report on our year's events and highlights and we all agreed with her that it had been a very good and interesting season.

We then had a report on our financial position from our outgoing treasurer Jane Coward, who is retiring after 7 years of hard toil at the job. Everything is looking good. Our income and expenditure roughly balanced, which is good, but does not give us money to save for any unexpected capital costs, such as the replacement of the projector which happened this season. We have some savings; but the committee voted to raise the subscription next season to £40 as it had not been raised for at least 7 years Anne asked the club whether they thought that this was a good idea and after some discussion we voted to increase the sub. On the subject of the new projector, John Gauvin sold the old one on e-bay, so it did not cost us too deadly a sum.

Jane was presented with a bottle and a parcel by Anne which looked decidedly like a book on how to take better pictures! as a 'thank you' from the club for her works.

John Gauvin then gave us his report on the print competitions and this led to some lengthy discussions on splitting the entries into two league, which the club voted against last time this was discussed about 18 months ago. This will be a matter for the committee to discuss next season.

Next up we had Alex Swyer reporting on the PI competitions followed by another general discussion about Judges, which always raises a few hackles!

Then followed the election of next year's officers, which sees Paul Hayward retiring after several years on the committee doing a variety of very useful jobs including being Vice-Chairman twice, and of course Jane, whose shoes are being filled by Janet Brown. Otherwise the rest of us carry on as before, with Chris West stepping into the Vice Chairman's shoes.

Finally we talked about the summers events and next year's 'Set Subjects" - 'Architecture' for PIs and 'Black and White' for prints (Monochrome).

Then the trophies for the season were presented by the Chairman as follows:

The Anonymous Cup Photographer of the Year Derek Grieve LRPS
The Dixon Cup Print worker of the Year Ian MacWhirter ARPS
The Emmett Challenge Cup Print of the Year Anne Nagle
The Taylor Cup PI worker of the Year Derek Grieve LRPS
The Petworth Cup Projected Image of the Year Alex Swyer
The Rowling Cup Most improved Print Worker of the Year John Gauvin
The Picthall Cup Most improved PI worker of the Year Chris West LRPS

After the break we had the Auction with a huge variety of bits and pieces including tomato plants, books, old cameras, bottles of wine and a host of other bits and pieces.

The auction was amusingly run by John and Alex who managed to raise over £200 which was a very commendable effort indeed.
