A Potted History

Our Club emerged in the late 1950's with its origins in Pulborough. The aim of the Club was then, as now, to foster and promote the interests of good photography.

The Club was formerly known as Pulborough and District Photographic Society. By the middle of 1988 our Meeting Place in Pulborough had become very dilapidated hence we searched, and found, more suitable premises at Storrington. In 1989 we changed our name to Storrington Camera Club.

Although now based in Storrington, our Membership is drawn from a wide surrounding area of West Sussex including strong contingents from Pulborough, West Chiltington, and Steyning.

We meet on the first and third Thursdays, or as listed in the Programme, at The Football Pavilion, Chanctonbury Leisure Centre, Spierbridge Road, Storrington, West Sussex. Our Meetings always start at 7.30p.m. We endeavour to create a warm, friendly, and informal atmosphere, and even make ample time for a tea and coffee break – always the most important item on the Meeting agenda!

Our Seasonal activities include a richly varied Programme of Photographic Competitions at Domestic and Inter-Club level where we regularly invite the best judges to review our work. We also have talks illustrated with Prints and Colour Slides as well as Demonstrations and Practical Workshops.

Within the Club we are able to offer general advice about Photography including use of equipment, good picture composition, techniques such as computer imaging, digital printing, and the more traditional film developing and printing processes including Black and White and Colour Printing.
